Thanks for making our website top shelf. I say "our" because it is important for us to share our history, experiences, etc. What you are doing is historical, and each contribution will let us know something we would not have known otherwise. Even though we know people for a lifetime, there is always something important that we do not know. I think of ParadiseWeb as being an educator.
Showcasing someone in the community is very important. Can you imagine how many people will read this issue? As soon as I have time today, I am going to email a lot of people and recommend that they take time to read this issue. My hope is for more people to join the family of ParadiseWeb. Better than that, I am on a mission to get subscribers.
The story about Daniel Watts is very impressive. We have been lifelong friends, but I learned a few things about him that I did not know. His daughter and granddaughter did a wonderful job writing Daniel's story. Keep Daisy Mitchell in mind to write her story at some point. She is a very interesting person who has written several books. That is just the tip of the iceberg.
It is a pleasure to know that Cora Dunlap Lyles will write a series about "The People of Paradise." She is an excellent researcher. Her story regarding the original black family is an eye opener. What makes it special is that she is a product of Fort Mill. I know a lot about her concerns of getting information to African Americans in the Fort Mill communities. Maybe some of us who are not concerned about genealogy will stop and think about how much rich history we have. Once I ran across a book that talked about Handy White and his offspring. I was in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, and you will never know the wonderful feeling I had.
Thank you,
Patricia Sanders Dunlap Pope
